Here we have a very different offering to the usual Berlin School inspired works he is associated with. This is his ambient album. It features 12 tracks each having a distinct mood. Unlike many ambient albums however this isn’t dark. It just oozes positive vibes that will uplift the soul. ‘Long Way to the Dale’ is a wonderful introduction. Soft half choral, half windy drones gently rise like an early morning mist evaporating from a lake. ‘Frost Remains’ keeps with the chilly theme as shimmering tones strike up and fade into the distance. A similar pattern is used for ‘Inertness’ but this time things have a more metallic feel, a subtle melody seeping into the consciousness. ‘Density Waves’ is all rather ‘breathy’ as if the soft sighs of some divine being reach across space giving life as they go. The title track sounds like a storm heard from far away but with soft shimmers surrounding it all, making us feel safe and protected. ‘Monolite’ is very subtle. There seem to be two or three completely separate textures that shift, drift and flow around each other creating quite a mesmerizing but comforting blanket of sound. ‘The Beginning of the End’ is a rather ominous title but again this sounds more beautiful than dark, as soft flutey synths weave their spell. More substantial surges do come from time to time but these are like waves breaking on a beach, shifting the sand slightly rather than having any destructive impact. ‘Still Falling’ is really quite moody, even melancholy and as such does sound different to the previous tracks but all that does is to add a little shade to the beautiful shimmering light we have had so far. Even here though the feel does change as we go on, like a sudden realization that there is some hope after all. ‘Walking to the Red Mountain’ oozes heat hazes and warmth. The perfect antidote to the frozen England I see while looking out of the window while writing this! Reverberating strings and soft metallic shimmers give both ‘Nocturn’ and ‘Isolated World’ a warm sleepy feel. There are shadows in the background but over all these are kept in the distance as a comforting presence hovers above it all. We finish with ‘Retrospective’ which is a well titled as it seems, in one track, to sum up all the moods and textures we have experienced in this wonderful blissful journey. Javi is an accomplished artist who whatever style of music he turns his hand to he does it well. Indeed he is maturing to be one of the most talented Electronic Musicians on the scene today.
